Beyond Hydration

*Disclosure: I was provided these L'Oreal products for the purpose of a review. All opinions expressed herein are my own*

I was super excited to receive the new Hydra-Total5 skincare line!

Some of you may have noticed that I posted it on my Instagram about a week ago - but I had waited to write the review because I actually wanted to use the L'Oreal Hydra-Total 5 system for a few days before sharing my opinions with you. (Plus you get to see me in my super-cool pajamas and with no makeup or glasses - please be kind! lol)

I received the sensitive skin system: they call it Ultra-Soothing - which is wonderful because I have, well, really sensitive skin. I have to be very particular about what products I put on my face, specifically around my eyes as I've had truly horrible adverse reactions before.

For some time I'd been using Avon products as my skin-care regimen, but while their acne line is working for me, they can be a bit caustic at times. So - the opportunity to try out the Hydra-Total 5 line was very exciting.

The first step is the cleanser which is not a foaming soap (so not drying) but instead is Micellar Water. You put it on a cotton pad or cotton ball and just wipe it over to clean your face. It's a fantastic makeup remover, doesn't sting your eyes or skin at all and has a nice light feel to it.

The second step is the toner, and let me say - this is the creamiest, least stringent toner I have EVER used in my life. I. Love. It. Honestly - I don't think I can go back to any other toner. When I first poured it out I thought - oh, this will never work, but it's wonderful. It doesn't sting at all and my skin is still tightened and feels great after using it.

The last step is moisturizer. This face cream is like a super-whipped, almost frothy substance. The scent is lovely and not at all overpowering, and it's not greasy in any way - which I often find with facial moisturizers. It leaves my skin feeling really good, although I do find when I wear it overnight that I need to do a quick wash first thing in the morning as I'm a bit more "shiny" than with a purely water-based moisturizer. A water-based moisturizer doesn't make my skin feel this good though.

And voila! After using this for about a week (with two days of doing my usual mineral mask) my skin feels really good and hasn't been agitated by this skincare regimen at all. It truly is soothing and great for sensitive skin. I love it - well done L'Oreal!

What's your skincare regimen? Do you have any favourite products? You can probably see the redness I have in my cheeks - which is actually significantly better than usual; I think that's because my skin isn't being agitated quite so much. Let me know in the comments below!

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
